Celebrating a New Partnership for Amazon Conservation

The Budapester Foundation is delighted to announce our support for developing an Amazon Wildlife Conservation Course. Led by Guilherme Costa Alvarenga from Oxford University’s Wildlife Conservation Research Unit (WildCRU), the programme aims to empower early-career conservation professionals in the Amazon Basin through advanced, field-based training in practical wildlife conservation skills, leadership, and project management.

During the initial phase of the project, the team will work to identify and establish partnerships with leading conservation organisations and institutions across the Brazilian Amazon to deliver the programme collaboratively with local partners. The course will be embedded within protected areas of the Central Amazon and aims to strengthen locally grounded conservation leadership while advancing the existing jaguar research platform in the Brazilian Amazon.

We are proud to help launch this important initiative, which will build scientific capacity, strengthen regional partnerships, and support effective conservation practice in one of the world’s most biodiverse regions.
